JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of the General Accounting Manager position is to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, fixed assets and financial reporting systems .
The position will ensure that relevant financial information is communicated effectively and timely to senior management, including making recommendations.
Must drive improved systems to support the consolidation, reporting, and process changes to ensure impactful, timely reporting and analysis is available to optimize business performance.
Prepare financial schedules and reports for various groups for reporting of actual results.
Support ad hoc analysis & projects in support of the strategy of the business.
Coordinate the preparation of period-end closing activities to ensure an accurate and timely close.
Lead & coordinate Sox compliance and oversee the development of policies.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works closely with other members of accounting and management.
- Month-end closing, managing internal & external audits, reserves, accuracy of balance sheet, maintaining chart of accounts.
- Has overall responsibility for maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the corporation’s general ledger
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Responsible for ensuring all Balance Sheet Reconciliations are completed timely
- Coordinate internal audits and Sox Compliance. Assist with external audits.
- Research GAAP and IFRS rules to ensure company is compliant in certain areas.
- Other ad-hoc tasks as directed by the Financial Controller.
- Back-up for the Accounting Staff that he/she directly manages.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- BS in Finance or Accounting required; CPA and/or MBA a plus.
- Solid foundation of General Accounting and U.S. Gap.
- Minimum 8-10 years of related experience in general accounting.
- At least 3 years of accounting or financial related experience in a manufacturing industry.
- Project Management Experience including financial systems integration.
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including the ability to present and explain financial results in a credible, professional manner to wide variety of audiences
- Expert skills in Excel.
- Strong skills with ERP systems or other financial reporting tools (JD Edwards and COGNOS, preferred)
- Strong knowledge of management reporting practices and solid familiarity related to US GAAP. Experience with IFRS a plus.
- Ability to be a strong contributor in cross-functional teams.
